wing commander mohit rana hailed from sandhol in himanchal pradesh’s mandi district. his father, ram prakash, retired from the post of colonel in the indian army. ram prakash lives in chandigarh.
mandi dc, arindam choudhary, said that the final rites of mohit rana will likely be held in chandigarh only.
iaf aircraft crash
the mig-21 aircraft was involved in a sortie over the baytu region when the crash happened. the exact reason for the crash is not known yet. the indian air force has ordered a court of inquiry to ascertain the cause of the ɑᴄᴄɪԀҽոт.
“iaf deeply regrets the loss of lives and stands firmly with the bereaved families. a court of inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the ɑᴄᴄɪԀҽոт,” the indian air force said in a statement.
following the crash, defence minister rajnath singh also condoled the deaths of the iaf pilots.
“deeply anguished by the loss of two air warriors due to an ɑᴄᴄɪԀҽոт of iaf’s mig-21 trainer aircraft near barmer in rajasthan. their service to the nation will never be forgotten. my thoughts are with the bereaved families in this hour of sadness,” rajnath singh said in a statement.
