Mikey Marotta, six, has been begging his parents, Jessica and Michael, for a sibling since he was just 3 years old. But after struggling with fertility and having a Mɪꜱᴄᴀʀʀɪᴀɢᴇꜱin 2017, Jessica knew she couldn’t fulfill any of her promises.
Jessica said: “We’ll just let him know when the time will come. She quickly became convinced of the phrase “someday, man” after answering questions for several years. According to Love What Matters, Jessica realized she could still be happy with a family of three after talking to her husband one evening.
But everything changed when Jessica found out she was Pʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ with a Bᴏʏ again in the summer of 2017. Although she and her husband were both thrilled and excited, no one was more interested in the news than their son Mikey. their.
Jessica said: “He is so excited to finally have his little brother. “He can’t wait for him to come and talk about all the things he’s going to do to him. He’ll pick out two things if we go shopping for toys and say, ‘This one is for me and that one. This is for my little brother.’”
But unfortunately for the Marotta family, bringing their new joy home will take longer than expected. Baby Jake was diagnosed with intrauterine growth restriction – a rare condition where a baby doesn’t grow to a normal weight during pregnancy – and needed to be ᴅᴇʟɪᴠᴇʀᴇᴅ early by emergency caesarean section in March.
Because Jake was born Pʀᴇᴍᴀᴛᴜʀᴇly, Mikey couldn’t hold his brother until he was 11 days old. But the delay didn’t stop Mikey from overjoyed – especially since Jake has the same red hair as him. Jessica said: “He was very excited, but I think he was a bit nervous. “He was giggling the whole time.”
Thankfully, after 60 long days in the NICU, it’s finally time for Jake to return home. And not surprisingly, since then, Mikey has taught his little brother everything he knows.
Jessica said: “They cuddle each other every morning and Mikey LOVES hugging Jake. “One of their other favorite things is lying on Jake’s activity mat together.”
Mikey is a truly incredible Bᴏʏ who loves his little brother more than anything in the world!
